Successivamente uscirono altre macchine della stessa serie sempre più evolute come l'Amiga 500, l'Amiga 2000, l'Amiga 600, l'Amiga 3000, l'Amiga 1200 e l'Amiga 4000. Già il modello Amiga500 si presentava come un personal computer dalla tecnica avanzatissima e dalle prestazioni grafiche e sonore altissime. Anche il sistema operativo, l'AmigaOS era di altissimo livello e raramente presentava problemi nell'utilizzo.

L'Amiga era famosa sia per le applicazioni multimediali sia per i giochi che per l'epoca rappresentavano il top del mercato videoludico. Moltissime furono le software house che produssero giochi Amiga, ne ricordiamo alcune: Capcom, Electronics Arts, Infocom, Sega, Microprose, Psygnosis, Team17, Ocean, Acclaim, Virgin, GameTek, RomStar, Gremlin, Epyx, Konami, Blue Byte, Mindscape, Accolade, Core Design, eccetera.
